Tottenham Hotspur Stadium will be the place to be for the Premier League clash among the two teams. Spurs are seventh in the league coming into the midweek matchups, but they have a game in hand over all of the clubs above them, meaning they have a chance to win the Champions League final. They have four games in hand and might possibly reach Chelsea in third place, Tottenham is just 11 points shy. In the first half against the Seagulls, the Hotspurs were particularly outstanding under Antonio Conte’s direction. The team now shifts their attention to the league, where a top-four finish is very much within reach. Over the weekend, Southampton needed extra time to beat Coventry. Before the winter break, however, they put in one of their best performances of the season, holding current first placer Man City to a draw and ending the league leaders' long winning streak. Not bad for a team sitting in the middle of the board. With his early-season problems behind him, Tottenham’s Harry Kane looks to be resuming his role as the striker who has driven his team to success in prior seasons. It’s getting more and more interesting as Southampton’s performance was stellar against City, and now Kane is getting back on his rhythm. Ultimately, though definitely not an easy feat, Conte’s masterful players are more than capable of winning against Southampton. Our prediction is 2-1 in favor of Tottenham.
