At the Canadian Tire Centre, Ottawa plays home this Tuesday, February 8, 2022, 8 AM. New Jersey will be coming in desperate to break their 6-game lose streak, Ottawa still needs to redeem themselves from their 4-1 loss to New York. Two underwhelming teams, but will their consistent losses make things interesting? Here’s our take. The Ottawa Senators. The Senators are currently 7th, second to the last in the Atlantic division of the NHL. Back on December 6, 2021, Ottawa actually won against New Jersey with 3-2. For the team’s last 10 games, they averaged 2.7 goals, 4.4 assists, 3.8 penalties and 9.4 penalty minutes with a 0.922 save percentage from their 4W-4D-2L record. They boast Josh Norris and Matthew Tkachuk as top performers. Unfortunately for the Senators, lead performer Norries is out due to a shoulder injury. Yikes. The New Jersey Devils. 8th, the bottom of the barrel, last placer, however you’d like to call it, in the Metropolitan Division. From their last 10 games of 1W-9D-0L, they averaged 2.4 goals, 4.4 assists, 2.8 penalties, and 5.9 penalty minutes while allowing 3.9 goals per game with a 0.871 save percentage. Nico Daws leads the team with Jesper Bratt. Currently, the major advantage of the team is the fact that they do not suffer any injuries or absences. Our prediction? The New Jersey Devils are going to use the Ottawa Senators to break their unfortunate losing streak. Jesper Brett is very much the key for this team to win, which is unsustainable in the long run but it’s enough for this game to turn in their favor. Hoping for the underdog to redeem themselves this time! February 8, 2022, 8 AM, Canadian Tire Centre.
