The match is to set off at 12:30 AM - PST between the two clubs. Chelsea currently places third in the premier league standings with a 12W-8D-3L record. Tottenham follows not so far behind in fifth, with 11W-3D-5L. We know it’s becoming difficult to look past the Carabao Cup where Chelsea won 2-nil over Tottenham, but as for the upcoming game, here’s what we think. If we look at the players, Chelsea has some serious advantage in terms of top scorers and most assists. Mason Mount spearheads the team with 19 points in scoring. Romelu Lukaku follows with 9, and Jorginho with 5. The Spurs, in comparison, have Harry Kane with 10 points, Son Heung-Min with 7, and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg with 5. This is quite underwhelming when put beside Mount’s stats alone. For most assists, however, Tottenham stars Lucas Moura with 27 points. Son Heung-Min follows once more with 7 points, and Sergio Reguilon with 3 points. Chelsea’s Reece James is only 3-points shy from Spurs’ Moura with 24 points, Mason Mount appears again with 19 points, and Mateo Kovacic with 8 points. Though Tottenham’s Lucas Moura proves formidable in his own right, Chelsea has a more well-calibrated team this season, rightfully so that they ended in the top three. There’s consistency among the players, there is no need to rely on one player in particular and this is a notable strength of the club. As we’ve roughly compared each team’s top players head on, we’ll save you the bore of enumerating the team stats as Chelsea also has the clear lead on that one. This is not to say that the Tottenham Spurs aren’t a momentous team, they just need some tweaking, like every other team in the league. We’re seeing Chelsea winning 2-1, and if worse comes to worst for Chelsea, the chances of a draw are still larger than the chances of Tottenham winning. 12:30 AM PST, January 24, 2022.
