On December 31, 2021, the Brooklyn Nets will host the Philadelphia 76ers at the Barclays Center. The Brooklyn Nets and the Philadelphia 76ers have already played against each other twice this season, with the former emerging victorious for both games.  

 

The Nets has quite an impressive record, having only 9 losses out of 32 games this season. On the other hand, the 76ers started off well this season but they failed to maintain their consistency, hence having 16 losses out of 34 games. Both the Nets and the 76ers are heading off into this match with a 124-108 and 117-96 win, respectively.  

 

Despite being seven players short last December 16, 2021 due to health and safety protocols, the Nets still managed to defeat the 76ers with a final score of 114-105, with Kevin Durant taking the lead.  

 

Durant scored 34 points, 11 rebounds, and 8 assists, evidently contributing to the team’s win. For the upcoming match, we can expect Durant to be the key performer, as he is the season’s top offensive leader, with an average of 29.7 points. James Harden with his 9.8 assists, and Patty Mills with his 3.4 3-pointers made, can also bring the team closer to yet another victory against the Sixers. 

  

In spite of the team’s inconsistency, it is without a doubt that the 76ers has one of the best players in the NBA– Joel Embiid. Embiid has an average of 29.6 points and 11 rebounds per contest, and he will most likely be the key player for the upcoming match.  

 

The Sixers is also recognized as an elite defensive team, which raises their chances against the Nets. However, the problem that the team needs to work on is their rhythm, consistency, and offense.  

 

It is clear that the absence of a few players cannot hinder the Nets, especially Durant, from winning against the other team. If the Sixers comes up with a strategy to contain Durant while strictly adhering to their offensive interior schemes, then they stand a chance of prevailing in this match. Otherwise, the Brooklyn Nets will easily take the win on this one.
