We have an exhilarating match right after Christmas Day as the top team in the Eastern Conference, the Brooklyn Nets, will pay the Los Angeles Lakers a visit to their hometown for one of the staggering matches right before the year ends. Watch as both teams go neck-and-neck this Sunday, December 26, 9:00 AM (PHT) at the STAPLES Center, Los Angeles, California.

Things are looking exciting ahead of Christmas Day as we get to watch the Lakers take on the Kings of the Eastern Conference. However, things are looking bad for the Nets (21-9) as 10 players of their team are marked in the NBA’s COVID-19 health and safety protocols, including three of their star players, Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, and James Harden. This means that it is likely that we will not see any of these players in their upcoming match against the Lakers and that fans will not be able to see the Kevin Durant vs. LeBron James matchup for the first time in three years. Joe Harris is still also out of the game, and Nic Claxton is still recovering his sore wrist.

Meanwhile, the Lakers (16-16) are also not having the best time of the season as four of their players and their head coach are in the NBA’s health and safety protocols, and reports show that Anthony Davis is most likely to miss at least another month due to a sprained MCL in his left knee. Above all, the team lost three games in a row with their latest loss against the Phoenix Suns at 90-108.

With all of the maladies that the Lakers are experiencing, in order for the team to get back on their feet, their nine-time all-star point guard player, Russell Westbrook, needs to play consistently with the team.

If it weren’t for the omicron variant surges within the Brooklyn Nets, their upcoming match against the Lakers would have been really great as NBA fans across the globe showed real excitement in this match by being the NBA’s most expensive regular-season game. According to a tweet by Arash Markazi (2021, December 22), the average ticket price for the upcoming Lakers-Nets game is $780, which is 330% more than the previous most expensive Lakers-Nets game on record.

With all of the unpleasantries that the COVID-19 omicron variants have brought us, it is most likely that most fans would be disappointed in the upcoming match since three all-star players of the Nets will not play against Lebron and Westbrook. However, fans will still get to see Patty Mills go against Dwight Howard. Thus, it will still be a great game nonetheless. But, due to the grave situation of the Brooklyn Nets, we believe that this match will favor the Lakers since the team has Lebron, Westbrook, and Howard.

It’s Christmas Game Day! Nets vs. Lakers. Sunday, 12/26/21, 9:00 AM (PHT), STAPLES Center, Los Angeles, California
