Mary C Posted February 22, 2023 Posted February 22, 2023 PBA Governor's Cup 2023 Coverge FiberXers vs Blackwater Bossing Despite a setback the previous time out, Converge is still right there in the lead pack and is ready to pick itself up and keep fighting for a place in the Top Four. The FiberXers are expected to quickly get back on track against the slumping Blackwater Bossing in their Thursday setto in the PBA Governors' Cup at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig. In a fierce shootout against the Road Warriors that they narrowly lost at the end, Maverick Ahanmisi poured in four three-pointers and a total of 22 points while Jamaal Franklin bombed away nine three-pointers to highlight a 53-point rout. Coach Aldin Ayo couldn't have asked for more from the FiberXers, who just fell short of their goal due to early fouls on several players. More importantly, they're right in the mix, within striking distance of the league-leading TNT Tropang Giga (8-1) and the San Miguel Beermen (7-2) with their 5-2 record. However, Franklin and his teammates must recover quickly from that loss and be more consistent in their final four games if they are to finish in the Top Four and earn a twice-to-beat incentive in the quarterfinals. The Bossing, the Phoenix Super LPG Fuel Masters, the Meralco Bolts, and the Barangay Ginebra Gin Kings are their final four assignments. At 1-7, The Bossing are currently practically fighting for their lives. Three nights pass between their games against Converge (Thursday) and NorthPort (Saturday) and their final elimination game against the Magnolia Hotshots on March 8. Then, a slew of a slew of a slew of a slew of a slew of a slew of a slew of a slew Even with the arrival of import Troy Williams in place of Shawn Glover, they have yet to break out of their slump.
