Mary C Posted November 29, 2021 Posted November 29, 2021 The 86th Intel Extreme Masters is approaching, and teams are eager to strengthen their ESL Pro Tour performances in this final opportunity to gain a big amount of EPT points for IEM Katowice 2022. The competition will feature 16 teams from around the globe. The champions of DH October EU and DH October OCE are expected to gain two spots, while the invited teams will probably receive ten slots, three additional slots will be handed to teams from the qualifiers, and the final spot will be claimed by the champion of the global playoff stage. In the group stage, the teams will be split into two groups, all with eight teams. In the GSL format, they will play bo3 matches in a double-elimination tournament. The victor of every group advances to the semi-finals, while the second-place teams move to the upper bracket quarterfinals and the third-place teams to the lower seeding quarterfinals. The remaining teams will be disqualified from the tournament. The single-elimination playoffs will be conducted in best-of-three matchups. The champion's last games will be played in a best-of-five format. The Intel Extreme Masters Season 16 - Winter will be conducted on LAN from December 2nd to 12th and will offer $250,000 in prize pool, a slew of ESL Pro Tour points, and an Intel® Grand Slam contribution.
