The 10-man Morocco victory over Cristiano Ronaldo’s star-studded Portugal in regulation time at the Al Thumama Stadium was one of the biggest upsets of the FIFA World Cup. Walid Cheddira received two yellow cards throughout the day while the Morocco team was also given a late red card. Cristiano Ronaldo broke down in tears when Portugal was eliminated, and his dreams of capturing the major title in his fifth World Cup were dashed. Ronaldo left the pitch and headed for the tunnel as soon as the final horn blew, crying. Cristiano Ronaldo entered the game six minutes into the second half but was unable to prevent his team’s loss. Though this is their World Cup meeting, Argentina and Croatia have never met in the knockout stages. Argentina, who has never lost in the semifinals, wants to get to the World Cup championship game.
