Taking place at the Red Bull Arena in Harrison, New Jersey, the New York Red Bulls will be hosting their clash with FC Cincinnati for this MLS battle. Sunday, August 21, 2022, 6 AM Philippine Standard Time.

The two teams have had a fair share of head-to-heads, and in their last nine, seven consecutively belonged to the Red Bulls. As they head into the weekend battle undefeated by Cincinnati, there’s a certain air of confidence to be expected from the New York team, that will, of course, lead to the desire to lengthen and strengthen that streak.

In terms of the entire MLS, New York recently gave their fans a treat as they won 2-1 in an away game at Atlanta United this Wednesday. Admittedly, they were going through a cold streak beforehand, undergoing a winless streak of five; one draw and four losses. In the Eastern Conference, New York is in fourth (11-7-8), qualifying for Final Series Playoffs, eight points away from scoreboard leader, Philadelphia (13-9-4).

Meanwhile, Cincinnati have been unable to rack up consecutive wins for the first time since April, holding a 2-2 draw against Atlanta United on Sunday. Currently, they stand at seven draws from their last nine league outings, alongside a loss and a win. This brings them to ninth place (8-9-8) in the Eastern Conference with a total of 33 points from 25 games, even with Orlando City in the playoffs spot. Thus far, despite the Orange and Blue having dropped to ninth in the Eastern Conference, they are merely outside the last playoff spot only on goal difference.

When we take a step back to look at both teams facing each other, they have almost equally shown prowess in their attacking firepower, so plenty of goal exchanges are to be expected. However, the odds seem to be in favor of the New York Red Bulls to come out on top, by a narrow margin. Regardless, Cincinnati would be grateful to come out of this game with a couple of points considering they have lost their last four home games. And with the Red Bulls heading into the weekend after ending their five-game winless run, they have the momentum to claim a slender victory.

6 AM (PST), Sunday, 21 August, 2022. Red Bull Stadium, Harrison, NJ.
