Will Toronto be able to rack up the eight points needed for a playoff spot? That is what we are hoping to find out. Currently, in the season, Toronto FC is standing at 13th place in the Eastern Conference with five wins, four draws, and twelve losses. Their last five games put the team in a winless drought with four losses and one draw. It is apparent that the team lacks the strong offensive bottleneck that is needed to get past their opponent's defense and score goals. However, the Reds do have a trick up their sleeves, two in fact. The new signings Lorenzo Insigne and Federico Bernardeschi are available for the rooster this game, and it could be the much-needed turning point for Toronto FC to get out of the drought that they are in. Not to mention, Toronto has had their best matches throughout the season within the confines of their home stadium at BMO. On the other end of the pitch, Charlotte FC stands higher in the Eastern Conference at 8th place with eight wins, two draws, and eleven losses. When we look at their last five games, the team has been struggling to play at their best with only three wins and two losses. Another point of concern for the team this match is that the Crown has had one of the worst road teams in the season with only five points scored in 11 road games. Since Toronto will be hosting the game this Sunday, it is a point of concern for Charlotte FC that they may not be playing to the best of their abilities, especially with Insigne and Bernardeschi in Toronto’s rooster. With the gleaming new hope of the two new players for Toronto FC and their ability to play matches better on home turf, it is looking like Toronto FC will be able to break out of their five-game winless drought this Sunday against Charlottle FC. 7:30 AM (PST), Sunday, July 24, 2022.
