The 2021 League of Legends World Championship will get underway with a bang as two eastern giants square off in the play-in stage's opening encounter. It will be a contest between Hanwha Life of the LCK and LNG Esports of the LPL. Both teams are fourth seeds in their respective regions and will try to be the greatest challengers in the play-in stage. The two have been drawn into Group A against one another, giving this group an immediate appearance of strength.  

 

Due to the fact that both teams are in the same group, it appears as though this particular clash will determine whether Hanwha Life finishes first or if LNG is the superior team. The group's other three teams, Infinity Esports, PEACE, and RED Canids, all appear to be in trouble and would need to pull off some remarkable upsets to progress. Given that this is the first meeting between the two squads, it will undoubtedly be difficult to judge which team is the stronger.  

 

Both teams experienced ups and downs throughout the season, but always recovered to post impressive results. LNG is unquestionably the club aiming to make some early-game plays, whilst Hanwha Life may adopt a more cautious approach. Hanwha Life's first objective will be to place Chovy on a comfortable champion who will allow him to shine. Chovy is widely regarded as one of the finest players in the world, and everyone should be watching to see if he can outplay LNG's mid laner Xie "icon" Tian-Yu. 

 

With the Hanwha Life and LNG matchup being crucial for how this play-in group plays out, Riot is kicking off the whole tournament with this exciting match. It will be a match between former teammates Jeong “Chovy” Ji-hoon and Lee “Tarzan” Seung-yong, who both played together on Griffin back in 2018.   

 

Lining Gaming famously known as LNG Esports’ Tarzan has his eyes set on the prize. With this kickstarter game against his former teammate Chovy, he’s looking to prove himself as a jungler that can carry his own team. He has become the backbone of LNG and the playmaker of the team for the whole year. He also played a big part in LNG’s miracle run in the 2021 LPL Summer Split Playoffs. LNG will surely be making early-game plays in this matchup. Tarzan will take over the map if Hanwha’s Chovy will be unable to beat LNG’s mid laner icon. LNG has repeatedly beaten different teams because Tarzan creates a lot of space for the team to play on.  

 

On the other hand, Hanwha Life Esports will heavily rely on one of the best players in the world, Jeong “Chovy” Ji-Hoo, who is famously known as the first player to acquire a KDA of 100. The game will depend on whether Chovy can outplay Lining Gaming’s mid laner, Xie “icon” Tian-Yu. If Chovy couldn't do this, Hanwha Life will surely have a hard time holding on as LNG will play comfortably as Chovy is the only threat to them.  

 

This would be their first matchup against each other and will surely be a close game. Both teams are looking to be the strongest contenders in the play-in and both eastern giant teams are depending on one carry to step-up, For Lining it’s Tarzan, and for Hanwha it’s Chovy. 

 

Lining Gaming should be the safer bet as Match Winners, as LNG provides more depth to their gameplay with Tarzan as their jungler and should be Match Winners. However, Hanwha could pull off an upset if Chovy would step up in their matchup this Tuesday, October 5, 7:00 pm (GMT +8).
