For Sunday’s fight night, it’s going to be a heated meet between nemeses Gervonta “Tank” Davis and Rolando Romero. The Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, will host the battle at 11:30 AM this May 29.

Two undefeated fighters will come to the ring this Saturday morning. Davis is a five-time, three-division world champion that has been around for longer than Romero, granting him the advantage of experience. Romero, on the other hand, has the advantage of height and reach. The American fighters are also known for their wins via knockout; with Davis’ 26-0 record with 24 wins due to knockout and Romero’s 14-0 with 12 due to knockout. Both boxers show power in their punches rather than the number of punches landed; however, Davis sits exceptionally low on the list of active fighters’ stats when it comes to jabs.

With their publicly expressed animosity towards each other, the upcoming match isn’t to be watched solely for the sport. We have to admit that some of us are hooked on the beef all the same. Ranking sixth out of all active boxers defensively, Davis boasts a +/- rating of +13.7. In spite of this, Romero believes he can knock Davis out within the first round. Romero’s astounding confidence aside, if he wants a better chance of defeating the Tank, he should take note of Davis’ match against Isaac Cruz. While Cruz ultimately lost, he was able to give Davis a hard time and forced him to go the distance. If Romero can compound his defense with mind games enough to irritate Davis, he might just go home undefeated once more.

In terms of a winner, Davis needs to secure a win in order to advance. Romero might just be the most difficult opponent he will have to face. It definitely won’t be an easy feat, but if the Tank proves he has actually grown more patient, the more likely he is to win. We’re betting that the rising boxing superstar won’t stop now. It looks like Romero will have his first defeat handed to him this time.
