Nets vs Bucks

The Brooklyn Nets and defending NBA champions the Milwaukee Bucks will square off in an intriguing game at the Fiserv Forum on Tuesday to kick off the 2021-2022 NBA season. The Nets will be out for vengeance against the Bucks, who defeated them in an exciting seven-game series in the Eastern Conference semifinals of the 2021 playoffs. The Brooklyn Nets are coming off a strong preseason campaign in which they won three of their four games. All of their players saw extensive playing time as they wrapped up their preseason training. The Milwaukee Bucks, on the other hand, is driven to prove their doubters wrong this season by successfully defending their title. Despite this, they remain one of the league's greatest teams, headed by Giannis Antetokounmpo, Khris Middleton, and Jrue Holiday;  three players were in excellent form throughout the preseason.

The Brooklyn Nets are looking to redeem themselves this Wednesday against the defending champions who beat them in a seven-game series in the Eastern Conference Semifinals. They are coming off a decent preseason winning 3 of their 4 matches with all players playing significant minutes to fix the needed preparations before the real thing. However, they will be losing their all-star point guard, Kyrie Irving, due to his decision not to get vaccinated. He is unable to attend any team practices or games leaving the Nets with only two of their superstars, James Harden and Kevin Durant. Even without their all-star point guard, the Nets are still stacked with both of their superstars and the retained services of Blake Griffin, Bruce Brown Jr., and LaMarcus Aldridge, who came out of retirement this offseason. Durant aims to carry his team against the defending champs and Giannis. Their matchup will surely have the biggest impact on the outcome of the match, and Durant is not looking the slightest bit fazed.

The defending champions will have their Ring Ceremony and at the same time are looking to take advantage of a Kyrie Irving-less nets. Two key matchups will occur in this match: Jrue Holiday vs James Harden, and Giannis Antetokounmpo vs Kevin Durant. Both Holiday and  Antetokounmpo are capable of locking down 2 of the greatest scorers in the NBA, Durant, and Harden. To add to Holiday and Antetokounmpo’s defensive ability, Khris Middleton, who recently joined the 50/40/90, is looking to give the Nets a lot of defensive problems and will be a key factor in this matchup. As long as Middleton scores the way he does, and Giannis stops Durant; The Bucks should have this in the bag.

Will the Nets prevail without their point guard superstar? Or will the Bucks prove that they were the champs last season for a reason? This would surely be a game to watch and a close game between two great teams; however, this game is looking to end with the Bucks being the match-winner and with both teams scoring under 235.

Milwaukee Bucks hosts Brooklyn to tip off the season at Fiserv Forum, Milwaukee on October 20, 7:30 AM (GMT +8).
